Mobile & Android

Building and running the Capacitor-based Android app.

BrewDesk is a Progressive Web App that also compiles to a native Android application via Capacitor 8. The Android app uses the same static HTML output, served locally within the APK — no internet is required.

Building the Android app

  1. Run npm run cap:build — this builds the Next.js static site and syncs it into the Capacitor Android project
  2. Run npm run cap:open — this opens Android Studio
  3. In Android Studio, build and run on your device or emulator

Responsive layout

The interface adapts automatically between screen sizes:

  • Desktop (≥ 1024 px wide): fixed 256 px left sidebar with full navigation
  • Mobile / tablet (below 1024 px): bottom tab bar with 4 pinned items + a "More" sheet for the rest

App identifier — The Android app ID is co.brewdesk.pos. The web directory is out/. HTTPS scheme is used for local asset loading within Capacitor.

Dev server

To run the app locally in a browser, start the development server:

npm run dev — runs on port 3001
