Data & Storage
localStorage keys and the offline-only data model.
BrewDesk stores all data in your browser's localStorage. There is no server, no database, and no automatic backup. Understanding this model is important for data safety.
localStorage keys
| Key | Contents |
|---|---|
brewdesk-auth | Active logged-in session (role, name, email, id) |
brewdesk-staff | All staff accounts with roles, PINs, and active status |
brewdesk-sales | Every completed sale record — the full transaction ledger |
brewdesk-products | Your product catalogue (overrides the seed data) |
brewdesk-customers | Loyalty customer profiles |
brewdesk-inventory | Stock level overrides (ingredient ID → quantity) |
brewdesk-recipes | Ingredient consumption per product per serving |
brewdesk-shop | Shop settings (tax rate, USD rate, address, etc.) |
brewdesk-branding | Shop name and logo |
brewdesk-pos | POS settings (auto-print, loyalty, discounts, etc.) |
brewdesk-mode | "normal" or "advanced" |
Data loss risk — Clearing your browser's site data, uninstalling the app, or using a different browser will permanently delete all BrewDesk data, including your full sales history. There is no cloud sync. Back up your data periodically by exporting records from the Orders page.
Seed data
On first launch, BrewDesk seeds 20 products, 15 ingredients, sample customers, and a default Manager staff account from built-in mock data. Your subsequent changes layer on top — seed data is never re-applied once the relevant key exists in storage.
